Arkansas Aggregates has been the mid-south’s top supplier of gravel, fill rock, armor stone, and granufill since 2005, and each year we mine and ship 2 million tons of top quality construction aggregates. Each of our products has its unique usage in construction and landscaping, and we are a phone call away if you ever have any questions about what you will need for your project.

With the heavy amount of rainfall and flooding that we experience in our region, Rip rap rock is particularly valuable in landscaping. Rip rap gradation varies by different providers, but when you order rip rap from Arkansas Aggregates, you’ll be shipped rocks from 10”-18” in size composed of nepheline syenite, a hard, gray colored rock with visible characteristics of granite that is the predominant material used in the region. Here are a few of the most common uses of rip rap stone:

Shoreline Stabilization-Any property that is adjacent to water should have its edges lined with rip rap. The large stones will anchor the dirt and sand underneath them, and keep your property line from being washed away with the current.

Hillside Stabilization-A lot of roads and prime commercial property are literally cut out of the side of a hill or a mountain to make room to build shopping centers and strip malls. If the hillside isn’t properly shored up to prevent erosion, every heavy rainfall will wash that hill into your parking lot.

Drainage-We live in a region that gets lots of rainfall, and should always plan for it when we build or renovate. Every lot is different, but ultimately, you’ll want to develop a gently sloping lot that directs rainfall to a drainage ditch, which you will want to stabilize like a shoreline.
